The KOs are a great team to be a part of, with athletes that play hard together, have a lot of fun and laughs together, travel to tournaments as a full team (nobody is left behind or left sitting on the bench), we have amazing volunteers that support the team in their physical needs, and an able-bodied/quadriplegic Coaching Duo that keeps the team organized and involved with their community. Our Coaches, Randy and Colleen, just finished their NCCP Competition B level and are on their way to Level 3 in January. The recent Pacific Sport Kelowna clinic, presented by Ms. Kim Whelpton, was a wealth of information with a total of 10 new and seasoned coaches. Building confidence, community, and connections…what better way to get to know other sports and share ideas !
The KOs mission includes development and opportunity for all abilities and all ages with a strong emphasis on annual youth awareness and educational support projects such as with Bankview Elementary students, Pacific Sport Okanagan Kids XploreSportz programs in Vernon, Kelowna, and Penticton, Kelowna City Park Open, UBCO and Okanagan College Health Sciences Students, Parkinson Rec Centre Family Days, PAART Kamloops, Pathfinders and Brownies, and this year we will present our 3rd Knock Out in The Okanagan Tournament.
Providing interactive demonstrations and positive involvement encourages Wholistic futures and an A-Bility focused community in which we all benefit in health, wellness, and active-for-life goals. When Win-Win is the outcome, the KOs are 100% involved !
We welcome other able-bodied and disability groups to attend practices to try out our sport and spread the word of wheelchair rugby right here in the Okanagan ! Check out our Schedules menu and contact us at email@example.com to attend
