The end of the season for BC Wheelchair Rugby and the Kelowna KOs marked a super successful year !
The KOs Roll n Bowl and Silent Auction was a great success where we raised over $1100. Over 50 people shared in sport demos and Glo Bowling and K-Town Pizza…. a great day of sporting fun and mucho laughter – pretty good for only $25 !
2 weeks later, our 2 BC Provincial Teams and a total of 11 Canadian Wheelchair Rugby Division 1 and 2 Athletes competed in 3 pools in London, ON for the 2014 Coloplast Nationals Competition and our own athletes, Randy LeBlanc and Stu Wymer and Assistant Equipment Manager, Colleen Bryant, helped the BC B Team to win their first GOLD MEDALS and Trophy EVER !!!
We all had looked forward to a break, but funny thing is, most of us didn’t stop. We presented a demo at Bankhead Elementary on May 23 for over 100 kids and teachers (and got all of them into a chair to try out our sport)…so much Happy Noise from all those little tykes !!! And we are already into the second week of track training in our rugby chairs at Capital News Centre and gearing up for Handcycling to start in June.
